Arghh...

My auctions are not doing as well as I hoped and there's only about 5 hours left on a couple of them. I reeeeeally hope there's a last minute buyer since as it stands right now I'll probably make just a few dollars once ebay's and paypal's fees are taken out. They've all gotten a really good amount of hits and views but only one even has a bid.

important vote

A critical vote is going down in Congress right now and we need to get phones ringing off the hook on Capitol Hill.

The House Judiciary Committee is beginning to "mark up" a good Net Neutrality bill at around 11am (EST) this morning. Then they're going to vote on whether to bring it to the full floor. Many in the Committee are being pressured by AT&T, Verizon and other major telcos to vote down the net neutrality provisions in this bipartisan bill.

Below are the people who need to hear from you. Urge them to support the Sensenbrenner-Conyers "Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act of 2006" (HR 5417) in the Judiciary Committee -- and to support it without amendment. (Saying without amendment is key as the telcos want to re-write it in a way that guts Internet freedom).

Marty Meehan (D-Mass. 5th)
Phone: (202) 225-3411

Howard Berman (D-Calif. 28th)
Phone: 202-225-4695

William Delahunt (D-Mass. 10th)
Phone: (202) 225-3111

Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas 18th)
Phone: (202) 225-3816

Bobby Scott (D-Va. 3rd)
Phone: (202) 225-8351

Chris Van Hollen (D-Md. 8th)
Phone: (202) 225-5341

Maxine Waters (D-Calif. 35th)
Phone: (202) 225-2201

Mel Watt (D-N.C. 12th)
Tel.
You may have noticed the little link to the right on here that mentions getting paid to read emails. I've had some people ask me if it's legit, and I wrote out a little answer about it on a site called Helium Knowledge. You can read my answer here and find out more, if you want.

in order to celebrate its coming

I am looking forward to spring so very much and I woke up with this idea in my head this morning – make freshly squeezed lemonade from scratch to celebrate spring when it arrives. I have no idea where it came from but I love it and decided immediately that I should add it to my 43things. I’ll make a nice icy cold pitcher to sip and enjoy.
It won’t be on the first nice spring day because there have been days like that already lulling me into a sense that winter should be over. Maybe on the equinox then…or when the first buds arrive on the trees. I’ll have to decide on a cue.

Want to join me?

See more progress on: make freshly squeezed lemonade when spring arrives

natural need

I have not been spending enough time in nature for far too long and it has slowly been eating away at my insides. I instinctively know that doing so will cause the highest amount of depression and anxiety of course, but instincts have a way of being silenced by everyday flotsam.
I am ready for spring.
I want to be in the woods, lying on moss; smelling the ground, feeling the sun, hearing the wind and birds.
I forget too often how unabashedly happy that sort of thing makes me.

my bedroom looks like a clothing store supply closet

There were clothes lurking in hidden places, just waiting for their chance to pounce upon me.
Sooo, sorting out my wardrobe is going to be harder than I realized. I have even more clothes than I thought I did because there was a bin full hiding beneath a box of sewing and some blankets.
I’ve always had problems with too many clothes. I like fashion and clothing and having enough clothes to suit all my eclectic tastes and hobbies. And, for some reason, people like to give them to me; I’m like a Goodwill drop off point when it comes to clothes. It has become utterly ridiculous. I don’t know where to begin really. So far I’ve just done a quick look through while washing the massive amounts of backlog laundry.
I’ve filled up 2 plastic grocery bags worth of clothes to be given away, though, without really trying. I’m going to see if there’s a women’s shelter nearby for some of the nicer ones, and on the off chance I have anything sellable I’ll maybe try to get a few dollars out of it.
See more progress on: sort out my wardrobe

water, water everywhere

I’m drinking more water than I was before but I’m still not drinking remotely enough. I think I can feel the effects, though. I seem to not feel as bad, my skin seems less dry, and I haven’t had as many problems with my eyes feeling dry. I’m wondering if it’s why my hair looks healthier as well.
I think the goal of “drink more water” is too vague though and I need to give myself an attainable one so I’ll stick to it better. So I’m marking this goal as done and replacing it with drink at least 1 liter of water a day. I’ll up that to 2 and then to 3 when I feel ready.

See more progress on: drink more water

Craft projects, art projects, home repair projects…
Things that aren’t really a big enough job to list as a goal here and things that are currently just taking up space because I’m not doing with them what I had planned. I’ll give myself a deadline and if it’s not done and there are items taking up space in my house – they’re either tossed out or given to a charity. I can’t keep thinking “someday”.
First I have to come up with a master list of the things I want to complete.

See more progress on: set deadlines for all the various projects I want to complete and haven't yet

maybe not 20 pounds?

Well, Aaron has told me he finds me even sexier now than he did when I was thinner which makes me feel a bit better about my weight. But I want to be able to fit into most of my clothes again, and to not be so completely out of shape. I also need to start working on losing the weight so that I won’t gain any more.

So, for now the goal is 20 pounds. But… if I’m able to gain muscle and lose the fat and to get back to the shape/size I want to be but still not really lose 20lbs of my weight – I will be happy.

See more progress on: lose 20 pounds and keep it off

All work and no play makes me a dull and tired girl.

I'm off until Monday which is good for my mental well-being but not so good for my paycheck. Or my Christmas shopping.
I think I'm finally over whatever it was that wiped me out for so long. Now I need to fully iron out the kinks in the swap I'm hosting at Craftster before the great people I have swapping all think I'm the worst organizer in history. Everything just happened all at once and spun out of my control.

I have a hive on my face for the second time this week. My mom gets them too; she says they're due to "nerves". Not really the most promising of news, I suppose. I am a big ball of stress at the moment but a week off should help that, I hope.

in harmony

while I'm thinking of it

To anyone who has written a review on Netflix saying how much you disliked a particular movie and then proceeded to give it five stars: You're an idiot. Stop it.

I read Jane Eyre yesterday. Nearly the whole day was spent on it, which was nice. I quite liked the book.

Today I got my license (finally), tomorrow I work, and Thursday I loaf as much as possible and hopefully update the shop.

I really only came here to vent about people on Netflix. My life is so exciting, no?

autumn is arriving

(I may possibly have a job. That's all I'll say for now except that it might possibly be a very awesome job.)

The weather here has been amazing, with a sudden change from summer hot to crisp autumn cool. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky for a couple of days. I'm so ready for fall.

My mom and I went to the first ever "Biscuits and Bluegrass Day" at the Loveless Motel and Cafe on Hwy 100. Not much to say, really, it was a bit of a let down. But I did get some ideas for stuff to make and we got free biscuit mix so that's a plus. I'd like to go back and browse the shops around there and perhaps eat at the cafe sometime when there aren't so many people around. I also got some neat postcards and the best smelling soap. It's made locally and it's called Summer Rose with pink clay, castor oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, and all sorts of other goodies in it. It reminds me of neopolitan ice cream only without the chocolate. Everything is natural, even the colors. Unfortunately, the lady who makes it doesn't seem to have a website. (It's made by Bon Aqua Cabin soaps in case anyone is interested.)

We stopped by a farm produce stand on the way back and picked up a couple of pretty gourds and a couple of apples for about 2 bucks. You can't beat that. I plan to look into drying the gourds.

When we got back home my package from The Star City Sound had arrived with extra goodies along with the earrings I had bought. (The earrings are beautiful and very delicate. They're so light, I can barely tell I have them in my ears.) Then we had a nice big meal with stuffing and vegetables and pasta so all in all it's been a nice day. I'm off to drink some African Redbush Peach tea I got a sample of from online and hopefully get some stuff done for the shop

I pretty much want to buy everything here: http://www.thestarcitysound.com/

I bought an owl pin of hers through Crafters United and I absolutely love it. I really dig her style and I want to get some more stuff from her soon.

I played in the rain today. It felt so good and it was so nice to watch the clouds moving. My nephew was playing outside with me so that was especially fun. I'm not outdoors nearly enough lately.

I also made the most amazing bread. I was craving something a little spicy and a little sweet and it turned out to be exactly what I wanted. I had bought some whole cloves today in order to make shrunken apple heads and so I ground some of those up with my fingers. Then I mixed them with cinnamon, brown sugar, allspice, and a touch of paprika, and then mixed it all in with some Jiffy Mix bread dough. It turned out lovely and I'm trying my best to not eat the whole thing in one sitting.
